Povo CD release and 2 UK 2011 dates
Following the Brazil CD release, Povo CD will be released in UK at Leeds Carnival on 27th August. Although already digitally available we have held back the CD release following some complications with Distribution deals.
I will be performing at the St Pauls Carnival in Bristol on 2nd July at the main stage 10pm. In August I will perform at the Reggae Festival held in Leeds as part of Leeds West Indian carnival on UK’s Bank holiday Sunday 28th August.

Pax Nindi | POVO |a collaboration that crosses many cultures
Pax gives us a musical brew mixing roots African Reggae, UK Jazz, Brazilian Maracatu, Rap and Zimbabwean Mbira music, all in one bag featuring thought provoking lyrics in Shona, Chewa, English and Portuguese.
POVO - speech by Pax Nindi
Over one and half billion povo living in poverty
Struggling for basic human needs
Where is the clean water, nutrition, health care, education, clothing and shelter
In the favelas in Brazil, South America
Shanty towns in Afrika and the Caribbean
The slums in Asia and Australasia
The neighbourhoods in the States and Europe
Look at mother earth and your position in it
While Povo tries to make ends meet
The system is busy campaigning for a vote
Full of unconditional promises
For Povo to help themselves the system has to
Help the poverty striken members of society POVO

Brazil POVO Tour Done and Now………
This year the Brazil POVO tour was brilliant and unforgettable. The Brazil band and I had a ball and it was amazing how much the band was into Nindi Reggae Music that the energy on stage was like fire! I met so many new fans and friends and the old friends and fans made it all work Obrigado!!!
The POVO album is now available but, for the moment only as a download. The physical CDs are only available in Brazil due to some international distribution deal which is taking a while to negotiate but believe they should be available by June - watch this space. To listento the album and download please click on image below.
There is also an interesting interview I had with Soca News regarding my regular Brazil visits and the Povo Album Click on image to read.
We are currently editing the Povo Tour in Brazil live audio and meanwhile here is a clip from Brazil 2009 Tour backed by Marcelo Santana’s band. Thanks

We are still in shock about the death of a good old friend Smiley Culture (David Emmanuel )who reached fame in the 1980s for singing about the difficulties of young black men in the face of police oppression. Smiley passed away in his Warlingham, Surrey home last week (March 15) during a police raid on his home.
Its reported that Smiley, killed himself by stabbing a knife into his heart after the police had surrounded his house. Its ironic that his Police Officer reggae song, which hit #12 on the UK pop music charts back in 1985 was based on his own experiences being caught carrying marijuana and then escaping arrest because the police officers recognised him as a popular singer so he ended up giving him an autograph.Rest In Peace Smiley!

Povo Tour Blog - All Set and Rolling!!!
Here is the second Povo tour journal and hope you find it interesting. Although I have promised to focus on music the next 3 weeks, here I am below trying to talk carnival and advise on an application - so my carnival family PLEASE give me 3 weeks then we can talk carnival otherwise music needs me for now!!

After rehearsing with the rhythm section Thursday night, last night was the final one with everyone including the horns section (cant go with Brazilian horns - sounds brilliant!)

Hildelarthes on Sax, Izidio on Trombone and Eric the keyboard wizard
Even those who are going to guest in my tour turned up too - it was like a massive family reunion!

L-R Marcus (Guitar) Rai (Bass) then members of Ze Pelintra Marcelo and Drummer who turned up to join the rehearsals so had to extend the rehearsals to end midnight instead of 10pm. Further left is old me (I think?)
Tonight I will be performing with my musical brother Marcelo Santana as guest
and also gatecrush my lyrics in a Maracatu party later. Will keep you posted on the rest of the dates. The main one is tomorrow in the Recife Reggae Festival and will be on at 11pm!

For those fans who were asking what tunes I will be doing, I hope you can read them and names of the artists below.

While all that is happening I m still reminded of my carnival life so I am documenting the carnival in Olinda and Recife for the Global Carnival Centre site. As an Afrikan it is a blessing to be in a Carnival that is so proud to be associated with Mother Afrika and you cant miss the Afrikan vibes in the streets and structures or in the respect I get when they know I am Afrikan!!

I will continue blogging on the Povo tour so here are a few more images of the key Povo Tour personnel

Silvio on Drums, Rai on Bass Eric on Keyboards and Marcus on Bass

L-R Napoleon on Technical stage assistance, Felipe on translation and diary scheduling. Energia my Agent and guide and napoleon again happy as ever!
Ok thats it for now, have to go and get some Coconut water which has been a live saver as Im not drinking any alcohol or smoking skank!

Las night rehearsals went so well with the rhythm section even though we got lost for an hour driving all over the city in Recife trying to find the studio.
Tonight the brass joins us and the percussion department - Oh Recife knows what they are waiting for as every member is a committed Nindi Reggae ambassador!!
